When home improvements offer the most bang for your buck

When home improvements offer the most bang for your buck.

I liked the take on this. It is the part that makes me laugh when I watch these home improvement / flipping / income property shows. They show they put in 30,000 and increased the value 80,000 – 100,000, hmm, I don’t think so.

As our company is trying to sell a place in Grantville, due to the time involved we got a Realtor who of course said we should do this and that. Our question to each was “how much more can you sell it for if we do that?” to which her answer was “maybe a grand or two”. So if we spend 3,000 for a upgrade we may or may not get another 1,000 on our selling price, yeah sure.

Absolutely there are things you can do, but there are many “upscale” improvements that just don’t make sense with the profit to expense ratio.

Today’s project

I usually fire up the Big Green egg once a week and cook a week worth of meals. Those small attached tables are meaningless. So I built a little table. Ok, little extreme but as they say, go big or go home.

Turned out to be 8 foot long by 27 inches deep by 3 foot high on the low side. The yard slopes so had to raise the left side 7 inches to make it level. Now I got room for food and eggessories as people call them.

Aluminum car bodies

Just completely random pointless thought. I have been reading quite a bit on manufacturers using aluminum for truck beds. Of course much negative.

When I think of aluminum as an auto body component, I think of a Delorean. When I think of a Delorean I think of the movie Back To The Future. When I think of the future I think of conspiracy theory.

Was Big Aluminum into subliminal mind programming in the mid 80’s to make us think that an aluminum vehicle was not only cool but desirable.

I always hated that question. People carry a preconceived answer about your income, where you live, your personality, etc. With one answer people think they know everything about you. I don’t want to be defined by my job, but what like and am interested in and what I want to do. I’m so much more then my work, which is difficult in my line of work as well as who I do it for.

One of the advantages with Social Media and the internet (hence a webpage all about me) is people get a glimpse of what you like, how you think, and your interests. People see the rest of you.

Pointless thought – safety lids

After some frustration almost to the point of getting out the circular saw I had a moment of reality. There is a whole generation today that have never had the joyous pleasure of opening a bottle without the childproof lid and tamper evident, impossible foil to fight with. I don’t know if I’m sad for the generation who never got to experience that or the fact I am old enough to remember those days.
